PART 1:
Maps

  • Do you think it’s better to use a paper map or a map on your phone?

Personally, I prefer maps on my phone because they are more convenient and easier to use. I find it quite handy to zoom in and out, search for specific locations, and get real-time directions with maps on my phone. In addition, it is less bulky to carry than a paper map.

  • When was the last time you needed to use a map?

Last month, when my family and I went to Bao Son Paradise - an amusement park with a variety of facilities such as the Safari complex, the aquarium and the water park. I had to use a paper map to navigate our way to discover these interesting places.

  • If you visit a new city, do you always use a map to find your way around?

Yes, I always use a map when visiting a new city to make the most of my time there and explore the area more efficiently. When I went on a business trip to Hochiminh city 2 years ago, I used GoogleMap to plan my route and find the most efficient way to get to my meeting venues, hotels, and restaurants.

  • In general, do you find it easy to read maps?

I don't have a good sense of direction and usually find it hard to navigate when commuting in the streets and feel confused when I need to turn left or right at the crossroad. However, thanks to cutting-edge technology and convenient applications such as GoogleMap, they have helped me a lot. I've practiced reading a map many times, so I think it's relatively easy, like a piece of cake.

PART 2:

Describe an occasion when you had to do something in a hurry.
You should say
what you had to do
why you had to do this in a hurry
how well you did this
and explain how you felt about having to do this in a hurry.

On one occasion, I found myself in a bind when I forgot my sister's birthday and had to get a present quickly.
I was in a race against time to find a fitting gift for her, which was no easy feat given the constraints of time. I quickly browsed online and found a book about simple recipes for baking cakes that I thought she would like.
The reason I had to do this in a hurry was that I wanted to make it up to her and show her how much I valued our relationship. I also didn't want to let her down and leave her feeling unappreciated.
All things considered, I managed to pull it off and deliver the gift just in the nick of time. My sister was thrilled with the present and said it was exactly what she had been hoping for.
Despite the positive outcome, I felt a bit stressed and anxious about having to do this in a hurry. I prefer to plan things in advance, so having to scramble at the last minute made me feel uncomfortable. However, I learned the importance of being more mindful of important dates and not leaving things to the last minute.

PART 3:
Arriving late

  • Do you think it's OK to arrive late when meeting a friend?

No, I don't think arriving late when meeting a friend is OK. Answering late can make the other person feel unimportant, damaging the relationship. For example, last week I waited for my friend for an hour, and I felt hurt and disappointed. It's essential to be punctual to show that you value their time and friendship.

  • What should happen to people who arrive late for work?

People who arrive late for work should face consequences, as their tardiness can cause delays and affect productivity. For instance, a late employee may hold up a meeting or delay a project, causing inconvenience to colleagues. A warning or deduction in pay can be an appropriate consequence for habitual lateness. Being punctual is a sign of professionalism and respect for colleagues' time and work responsibilities.

  • Can you suggest how people can make sure they don’t arrive late?

People can take several measures to ensure they arrive on time, such as planning ahead, setting reminders, and leaving early. For example, I always prepare my outfit and pack my bag the night before an early morning meeting. Additionally, accounting for unexpected delays and traffic can help avoid lateness. Punctuality shows respect for others' time and responsibilities, and being punctual can also reduce stress and anxiety.

Managing study time

  • Is it better to study for long periods or in shorter blocks of time?

In my opinion, it's better to study in shorter blocks of time because it allows for better retention of information. Research has shown that studying in short sessions with breaks in between can help with concentration and memory recall. For example, I usually study for 30-45 minutes at a time, take a short break, and then resume my studies.

  • What are the likely effects of students not managing their study time well?

Not managing study time effectively can lead to poor academic performance, high levels of stress, and even health issues. For instance, students who procrastinate and leave work until the last minute may experience anxiety and sleep deprivation. Moreover, poor time management can result in a lack of motivation and engagement in the learning process.

  • How important is it for students to have enough leisure time?

It's extremely important for students to have enough leisure time as it provides a break from the stresses of academic life and allows for personal growth and development. For example, engaging in hobbies, sports, or social activities can improve mental well-being and enhance social skills. Additionally, leisure time can provide a space for self-reflection and creativity, which are essential for personal growth.
